What problems will I encounter updating a mid-to late 90's GMC 3/4 ton trk, ex-military vehicle for street and mild trail use? It is a 6.8 Diesel, automatic trans. and a 24 volt electrical system. Obviously I'll fix what is broken or worn out but am I opening a can of worms? Thanks.

Sounds like a CUCV II. You can see the spec. sheet below. There really isn't much that's too different from a K3500 of the same year. They were commercial/fleet trucks that were repurposed for the military. If it's fresh from the military motor pool, I'd suspect that it's in good running condition. Should be 5/4T and have a 6.5L diesel though.

Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The spec sheet is very helpful. What bothers me is the 24 volt electrical system. How much of a problem will that be replacing components, repairing wiring glitches, etc.? I've found a source for shop manuals so that will help. But before I dive into this thing I want all of my bases covered. Again thanks for the info.
