03 Tacoma making grinding noise

hello all! new here!

i have an 03 tacoma 4wd, manual trans. yesterday i engaged the 4wd, recently discovered i should have been doing this from time to time for the past 3 years i have had my truck. anyway, i drove it gently on pavement in h4, then i put it in l4 and drove just a few feet, then disengaged it. later on i discovered it is making a horrible grinding noise coming from the right front end, only when making a sharp left turn.  i have tried pulling forward, backing up, i have off-roaded it, taking it in and out of l4, h4 and 2wd, thinking maybe it would fix itself. no luck. i put the 4wd shifter in neutral and the truck is still fully operational, that is the manual trans operates as normal. could this mean it is stuck  in h4 or somewhere inbetween not fully engaged? have i ruined my terriffic little truck? will take it to my mechanic later in the week when i am off. thanks in advance!!!  

Sounds like one of the front hubs might be stuck. I'm sure it's not irreparable, but it might cost a little to fix. Let us know what happens.
