Weber Problem on 90 JY 4.2

Since purchacing my 6cyl 4.2 Jeep last year it has had this problem:
At random times sometime during start up and sometimes after driving a while the carb seems to go into a "flooded stage". It doesn't die but simply acts like its either starving for fuel or maybe getting too much. Simply no power what so ever. Not a mechanic so I'm not sure. I determined I had leaky carb/manifold gaskets and replaced all three. Thought I had the fix but it's started again. Maybe a vacuum leak? Where to start now?

Does it smoke a lot when it's bogging? That would indicate flooding. Yeah. Sounds like it might be a vacuum issue. Although it's not the cheapest solution, Mopar does offer a kit to convert the carbureted 4.2 into a fuel-injected setup similar to the newer 4.0 liters. If this continues to be an issue, it's worth considering.

Check for vaccum leaks and also check your fuel pump.
In my carburetor days, I liked to run a small adjustable fuel pressure regulator between the pump and the carb. They're cheap at Pep Boys, Chief, Kragen, etc.
