I went out to where the coordinates say for Aug 09, but I didn't see a deer leg. I found a fence line and a burnt wood pile. No signage.

If you enter the coordinates from the magazine into google maps a pinpoint is displayed, I am searching at the resulting pinpoint.

Well, We went back today determined to locate the marker, after four hours of turning over every rock, stump and dried up cow pie within 200ft of the coordinates nothing! we even had a guy from ellensburg show up and he searched for couple hours also. no marker. p.s. if anyone finds a shurefire 9P flashlight on the road up there (fell out while I was airing up) I would be willing to pay a finders fee and shipping thanks.

well ive been up to look for this thing twice now. first time was last sunday and was quite an adventure. on my way back across the pass it was brought to my attention by a guy in a very nice willys coupe that my rear panhard bar was hanging loose. some how while i was up there the upper bolt some how got loose and came out. well i went up there again yesterday with my girl friend and scoured the area and again found no sign of the plate. maybe a metal detector and a shovel are in order. but i did find the lost flash light let me know where you are and maybe we can meet up to get it back to you. the reflective tape on it is a very good idea.

went back again, this time i took a pole with a metal tip to poke around to see if i could find it under the pine needles. when we got there some one had been there before and tore the place up. logs moved even dug a rotted stump. still went around with my pole and found a bunch of rocks but no metal. even considered buying a metal detector but for the price of the gas to get up there and the detector i could use the money better else where. either some one found it and didnt know what it was or we need some lessons on gps

Yea, I forget which way I mixed the numbers and survey it was that I used but it came up in the state park, not exactly an off road area but it wasn't at the elensburg location, so maybe if its not to far and you got the time.

Looks like Phil Howell walked across the street and left September's marker in his neighbor's backyard. Another west coast plant!

Unfortunately his "backyard" is not the easiest place to find the marker. Went up with my kids yesterday afternoon and hunted for a couple of hours with no luck.

The wife and I drove 160 miles on June 6 to the Colockum Trail area to search for it. Being avid geocachers, we are used to the "tread lightly" way of thinking. At that time, I don't think anybody had been in the area looking. We searched for a couple hours without luck. Then two weeks later, on the 20th, we went back to search again. This time we were armed with a metal detector, prod poles, shovel, and another geocacher. We searched for three hours with the same results. Nothing! However, this time I could see where other people had been tearing up the area apparently with no luck either. The wife and I have over 1500 geofinds and the other gal that went with us has almost 2200. The good news out of all of this, we did 17 geocaches on the way home. The bad news, the plate is still out there.

I found a marker at the September 2009 location Thursday, 7/9/09 at roughly 8pm.

Where did you end up finding it at? Was it up on the road at the top of the quarry, or up the hill from there?

It was on a shelf above the road about half way up. Above the road in one section there is a little water running over some crumbling outcroppings. I went up against that outcropping which was to dangerous to climb and saw on the GPS that it was still above me a little ways. So in the process of finding my way around the outcropping to the West, I found the Marker. My friend and I drove from Fort Collins Colorado to the location and back in 19 hours, with a little stop at the bluebird cafe in Logan. Frustrating when your "4X4" can't even maintain the speed limit. I did not expect to find it and it was an adventure to say the least. -Max
