I have an 88 Raider/Montero. First it has a 2.6 liter 4 banger that is seriously underpowered. Secondly it needs front axles in bad way...wouldnt even try to engage the 4x4 in thier current state. What Im looking for is advice on fix-ups and to-do's. This was not my first choice but was in need of a vehicle fast and for $800 I bought it. Wanted a Jeep CJ but did not have the time to save up. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated. Just a side note...my budget is extremely limited.

I am not sure if you know this but the Montero, Pajero, and Dodge Raider are al the exact same vehicle. Well, as far as the yer you have is concerned. I owne the same one you do and I havent had too much problum finding the parts I have needed at a great price from my local salvage yards. Knowing that I have three vehicles to look at for parts has been very helpfull. I replaced my lockers, windshield, all seats and carb for about $350 total. The fact that you are a litttle rushed is what is making it hard for you to find the deals. This is an older vehicle so you have to be patient. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and enjoy.
