I was just reading the january 2009 issue, 4word by phil howell.
"I plan on keeping it as low as possible while running 37" tires" he say's for the new LJ.. lol project.
well, here's an Idea for ya phil, (I know I'm not the first to do this) If ya haven't already seen what I've done on my tj and one that came from canada to my home just for me to hack up in a weekend project fitting 37's on a 3.5" re lift, also posted on the jpmagazine.com forums... BTW... this is something I would donate time on doing for ya. I have no Idea what kind of coin your willing to put in er, I have next to no money to spend on new fenders or highline tube jobs.
this only cost about 6, 4 1/2" cuttoff wheels which was pulled out of a stack of 10 for 8 bucks at harbor freight in gladstone, or., and 12 bucks worth of fasteners from true value hardware in estacada, or. and since I've done a couple now, I can get er done in a day.
It's pretty easy, I've also figured (I think) a way to prevent the fenders from being seriously deformed while reforming around the grill.
DIY highline fenders/flares
bear in mind here both tj's had messed up fenders to begin with...
before and after...

what you see there is a 3.25" lift, with out, a lift of any kind. mine is the equivelent of a 7" lift. and will be getting 37" truXus m/t's very soon..
this is something I'm willing to help with or do for others interested, I have the skills and tools to make it happen.
there was a few under hood issues to address, nothing overly hard tho... relacated the wiper washer bottle, lowered the fuse block, ditched the factory air box.. pretty much just moving things around..
here's a few pics of progress..
pulled the fenders and cut the hood..

fixed a busted bolt..

redriled the holes, trimed the suport and made a support strap....

inner fender/battery box support... for both sides...
hack off the entire sides and bottom of the bracket... I had the little guy (8 year old) weld a piece of angle iron on the bottom section which gets bolted back in the stock location, then to the bottom of the upper half...

getting the fenders to form the new curve on the grill, takes the removal of the splash gaurd/fendre support up front... and a couple new holes in the top corner of the fender... my fenders wer bent up to begin with, I think it actually made to harder to get them to form...

I relocated the washer bottle to the rear, it actually fits nicely on it's new bracket... I made an extra also for a pattern.
this doesn't work on the standard tranny models due to the clutch master cylinder.

on the O3 electronics I removed the bracket and tossed it after a few attemts to reuse it or part of it. I ended up tapping the holes ane mounting it directly to the fender, an after thought is usiing some shock bushings between or some sort of isolator...

the fuse and relay box mount..
the bracket got ditched on it also. I drilled three holes through the bottom of the plastic tow of which use the original bracket bolts and the 3rd got a nut on the botton of the inner fender. I also put a strap in there to support the plastic box, hope that'll last...

the battery fit right back where it was, only 3.25"'s higher.
to get the hold down clamp on I had to raise the elecronics up a little.....

hacking out the rear...

installed with 1/4" bolts and 1.5" fender washers...

finished... rear flares

finished, almost..other than more things I gotta buy, like some door molding to cover the hood edge..

here's another one I did this past sunday that came from Canada...
3.5" re on 37's..
getting started, the 37's rolled up next to the 33's

choping the hood

fender raised on the 33 and the 37...

37" mtr's flexed under 3.5" re lift....

rear flares...

on the trail...

since I'm a fan of nth degree and have nearly every nth part on my tj besides the Tummy tucker and long arms, I think the best way to accomplish the 37's is under a complete 3.5" nth degree long arm under DIY highline fenders or if ya have a money tree, AEV highline fenders, which are much higher quality fenders than the stock ones ever thought of being...
coilovers would be awesome, just a dream for me tho....

so, now that I read the ending comments of 4word, I gather phil is looking to use the gen right highline flat tube fenders...
now that's gonna be awesome!
have ya seen the bolt on flat tube fender flares warrior products is about to release? they are saying they'll be selling fronts and rears as separate pairs.. that'll make it match or maybe were looking for some round rubber rears for the cj look... I'll prolly build some similiar since I'm a low to 0 budget for jeep mods.

I got a nice rash in the snow last night... slid sideways and smacked a stump... now I might be building some nice wide tube fenders and get my rockers finished up...
