JUST GOT BACK FROM LOOKING FOR THE GEOSTASH AT THIS COORDINATES 32 DEG. 45.020N AND 92 DEG. 16.590W AND THERE WAS NO PLATE. AFTER SEARCHING FOR 2 HOURS I DECIDED TO CALL IT QUITS AND AFTER A 12 HOUR DRIVE I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO SEE IT WAS HIDDEN IN SUCH A PUBLIC AREA. IT WAS LOCATED OFF OF FM 2 IN LOUSIANA IN A NAUTRAL SPRING LOCATION. WHILE I WAS SEARCHING I COUNTED AT LEAST 4 DIFFRENT INDIVIDUALS GETTING WATER FROM THE NAUTRAL SPRING.

Sorry you didn't find the marker during your search. Remember that the marker isn't just sitting on top of a rock waiting to be found. It will be well hidden and might be under a bush or rock with just a corner of metal showing. once you've pinpointed the area of the coordinates you'll likely need to walk the area in a grid pattern leaving no stone unturned.

Also, even if there were people entering the area to retrieve water it is highly unlikely that they would just "stumble" across the marker if they didn't know what they were looking for.

Thanks for participating in the contest.

Not to discourage anyone from continuing to look for this one, but I have to second the opinion that it is no longer there.  My wife and I were passing through the area, so we made a detour to the coordinates and took a look around.  First, the tree cover is very heavy, which plays heck with GPS signals.  Despite trying three different GPS units (2 Garmins, 1 Lowrance), we never got a better fix on the coordinates than an estimated 30 feet.  I would be sure that the GPS that was used to get the original coordinates was probably having the same problem.  I ended up walking the highway and through getting multiple points, triangulated in to the target coords.  I ended up at the same tree that Emery mentioned.  We did a search spiral out from that location, and checked out all the usual hide spots with no luck.  The leaf litter was several inches thick so we thought it might have been covered up, so I broke out our White's MXT metal detector and swept the area.  Found a lot of metal trash buried in the mud but no plate.  From my experience as a Geocacher, we knew sometimes caches are hidden in trees, so we looked up every tree in the area.  If it is still there, it is very well hidden, or the original target coordinates are off.  If I were running this contest, I would ask the people that hid this GeoStash to check the status of the hide.

PS, if you do go looking for this GeoStash, wear some good insect repellent.  We ended up picking up several deer ticks while searching through the undergrowth :P

SuzukiTom and EMERY-thanks for your input and thorough searches. I asked our guy in the area to check it out and see if the marker is still in place. I'll post new info as soon as I hear from him.

Also, remember that we operate on about a 3 month lead time and that the marker you are searching for was hidden in early March. It's likely that the there was quite a bit less tree cover at that time which would have allowed for a more accurate GPS reading without interference.
