Just got off the phone with Jeep gave me the dates of July 24th to 26th in Blue Ridge Mountains (same as last year) BUT registration is not available at this time.
Being I'm new to this was wondering if it is best to pull a camper (I don't have one and would have to rent one) or is there hotels/motels within the area to stay? If so, are they far away? was wondering how hard it would be to get back and forth to the events if staying in a hotel.
someone please help this new jeeper!

I have been to 4 Camp Jeep events. There is nothing like it. Last year, there were almost 3,000 jeeps and 12,000 people. The actual event is about 45 minutes from Charlottesville, VA. It is where most of the Camp Jeep Attendees stay. There are dozens of good hotels and restaurants. I believe their are closer places and campgrounds to stay at but there isn't alot of other immenities near those places. If you want to see some pics from last year, email me @ twojeeps@msn.com.

Good Morning to You!! Happy Easter to you and everyone else! I've also been to 4 CJ's. About the only real Jeep event my wife will go with me. Our first CJ we pulled a camper to the KOA. Meet some really super people there, had a great time. It was about a 45 min. drive away. Which was OK for me, but early in the morn it was a bit chilly for the wife and kid with no top on!! But the scenery and atmosphere is superb around there. Next time, stayed in hotel (expensive!), ahh, I guess depends on the hotel, I wasn't impressed at all. This past CJ ('07) was super (well - for wife). We searched for area cabins and such(B&B's) and found an absolute gold mine of a place. It was a guy's house (BIG!!) but he had a rental area attached to it!! It was super peaceful, way back in the woods. She loved it. I prefer to be around other Jeepers, but... gotta keep wifey happy!! (she is my FUNDING for these trips!!) But I'd say the key is - make plans as soon as the dates are announced. Do a lot of research. If funds aren't a problem, a lot of great places around. If on a budget, you might be a little ways out but no problem. And if you want to camp - you'll find a good place!! I also have some great pics if'n you want to see'm. Now...Have FUN Out There...JEEP!!!

Here is a great campsite: http://www.mistycamp.com/
They have their own trails and host rides in the evenings. They have a bonfire and cookout on Sat (I think). As with most of the locations its about 30 miles away near Crozet.
