While I don't think that events are really the best way to experience the trails (crowds and 35-vehicle trail runs aren't my thing) I had a good time at TDS last weekend.

The good time was mostly due to a four-vehicle trail run up Sandstone Canyon.  We left base camp in Ocotillo Wells and headed up Split Mountain Gorge.  Sandstone Canyon peels off to the left of the main wash and proceeds to wind its way through several maze-like passages, with a few ledges and narrow spots thrown in for good measure.  It's an out-and-back trail that can be done at a leisurely pace in about 3-4 hours.  We stopped to snap photos and did a little on-foot exploration.

I've yet to unpack and download my photos, so any visual evidence of our trail run will have to come later.

What about the rest of you guys?  Any TDS stories to share?
