I put Accel Ignition Coil - Super Coil
1991-1999 Jeep Cherokee on my new re-built motor of my 1996 Jeep sport.  It worked for about 3 weeks then engine backfired, sputtered and quit.  I got home by installing the old coil. Has anyone had similar with Accel Ignition Coil - Super Coil
1991-1999 Jeep Cherokee?

It's been years since I've done anything with Accel products, but I had the same problem with a Super Coil I installed on my 71 340 Duster.  It ran for a few weeks, then the coil went bad. Installed another one and experienced the same thing.  I decided Accel wasn't the way to go and installed an MSD Blaster II. I sold the car several years later and it was still running great with the MSD unit.

Right now I'm looking into a Performance Distributors, Firepower Ignition Kit for my 97 XJ, 4.0.  Everything I'm finding thus far says it's a go and I think I'll be heading that way.

Do everyone a favor, check where the Accel coil is made. If it's in China, let everyone know. I've been running into so many bad, ill-fitting parts that companies are having manufactured in China it's driving me nuts.  Even when ordering on-line, I won't place the order without a guarantee that the part isn't made in CHINA. Some parts are assembled in the USA, but actually made in China, and that's proven to be just as bad.

I just purchased an Accel, "Tune-up kit," for my Dodge Ram, and there is not one component manufactured in the United States. I'm sending this garbage back to Summit, but just for the record:

     Coil: Made in China
Spark Plug Wires: Made in China
     Distributor Cap: Made in Mexico
     Rotor: Made in Mexico
     Spark Plugs: Made in Japan
     Coil Adapter: Made in China

Thanks, Accel/Mr. Gasket!
