I would love to see a long-term 4.0 Stroker review.  I've seen the installation of a Stroker in a sister mag, but no follow up.  I am sure there are quite a few jeeps out there with 4.0's getting a little long in the tooth contemplating the Stroker option.  It would be awesome to see mpg, reliability, gains seen in hp/torque and how they translated to real world daily driving/off-road adventures over say 30k to 40k miles, and possible pitfalls of the build-up and headaches that might come along with the increased displacement.
Granted a long-term test would take awhile, perhaps start with a comparison of building the  Stroker yourself vs buying one off the shelf, following along with the installation of said Stroker and immediate impressions/gains on the dyno and ¼ mile unloaded and the ¼ mile pulling say a 5,000 lb trailer, then perhaps a check-in every 10k miles or so.

Course if a volunteer was needed I might happen to have a 95 Grand Cherokee with a 4.slow in it available for possible upgrade. ;-)

Alright, while I'm dreamin, I got one more engine write-up I'd love to see.  I've always been a fan of the old FJ40's.  With gas at the price it is, MPG's are always at a premium and diesel swaps look pretty attractive.  We've all heard stories of the BJ40's and BJ42's gettin 30 mpg or better.  I know there are a handful of trade-off's swapping to diesel, slower throttle response, noisier and smellier, cold weather starting, etc... but they also offer something in return, gobs of torque, MPG, they run forever, with Direct Injection (or Indirect Injection) the engines can run upside down, with no distributor they can be waterproofed without much work...
I've read about swapping in an Isuzu 4BDT1 or the Cummins 4BT into an FJ but haven't actually seen a write up on one, and once again impressions of what was actually gained/lossed.  The Toyota FJ FAQ talks about the swap, but doesn't go into detail.
Would be interested iesel is capable of/possible candidates for easy swaps/possible upgrades to make it an seeing a diesel swapped into anything, but would love to see one swapped into the FJ.  Also with the Diesel KJ's being in circulation for a little while a look at what their 2.8L di more viable engine for other Jeep swaps.

Don-A-Vee,

Well you are in luck; in the September 2006 issue of 4WD I introduced our new 1967 Jeepster Commando. I am not quite sure what we will be doing with for a build up but keep your eyes peeled on future issues of the magazine.

By the way, Don-A-Vee Jeep is my favorite dealership.

Craig,

We worked with Hesco a while back on a 4.0L stroker engine about a year ago. I’ll dig around, find the article and get it posted on the web for you.

If you have specific questions about the build you can contact the experts at Hesco, www.hescosc.com.

Hey guys! I would love to see an article focusing on the regets of the 4x4 magazine world.  Specifically rigs like Xterra's, Land Rovers, Isuzu's, Mitsubushi's, etc...  I like reading about Jeeps, Chevy's, Fords, and Dodge's as much as the next guy but how about mixing it up a bit.  Some simple tech on these rigs would be fantastic as well! I love reading about the different options that there are for getting out on the trails and I think that building something outside of the mainstream takes some ingenuity and creativity.

Keep up the good work! Your magazine is one of the best at covering all aspects of the hobby/sport

Hey Sean! I don't know. That might be a tough sell for Kevin. He's pretty hard-core about what he puts in the mag. But with enough interest and requests from the readers, anything is possible!

I would like the mag to do a complete build up on a (W)D21 nissan hardbody or pathfinder like the one Calmini MFG. has at http://www.purenissan.com. rumors have it that thier coil spring SAS kit should be avaliable by the end of the year. so maybe a SAS pathfinder build reviewing calmini's robust line of nissan products.

oh.. and give it a double ended hydraulic ram steering system on 35" BFG Krawlers

welp i sent my sugestion to Xtreme 4x4 TV on Spike! and they are going to do it in the upcomming season.

the mag could still put a sweet t-case in a nissan... people are trying to get an adapter made to bolt up an atlas or similar to a nissan.there are other message boards thrying to get that together too but soo far nothing has come through... the mag better act fast if they want this one...jsut becasue it's a nissan doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

I would just like to see a non jeep feature every so often. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Kia, Mog, Penz, Nissan, Yota, Isuzu, Zuk and any thing else. I remember when the mag had troopers on the cover. Now it seems like it is becoming 99% jeep and use the others for filler. Come on guys, I know there are more Jeeps out there than anything else, but how many 350 powered, 400 trans, Atlas case to dana 44/60 combos are you going to publish? Show me a guy who done that to an Isuzu or Kia. You don't have to show one every month, just change it up some.

Also it seems like you guys favor the north west part of the country? Why don't you stretch the budget a bit and come down south and live a little. We are doing a nice weekend ride before Thanksgiving. We'll have a few jeeps built very nicely, an air bagged Ford Ranger on 46's, a few other suprises. All I can say about the location is it is rough, rocky and hilly. If it rains it will be even funner. If your interested, let me know and I will divulge all the details.

All right I'm done griing and complaining.

I can't say that I have any real ideas for builds like the rest of the guys, but what I would like to see is more real-world wheelers. All makes and sizes.I want to see the rigs that guys like myself hand build and not just call up the local shop and buy the bolt-on to their liking. The tube buggies and professional shop builds are very cool, but not many people could ever afford that.I've some really awesome vehichles on the trails that where hand built by their owners that had some very inovative little tricks(so to speak) to the sport and their personal set-up.

I myself have a few little things that tons of guy's love.I adapted my own transfercases(Dana300-to a NP205)with only 4.5" between the cases, solid bolted together. Yeah it took almost a month to pull it off,but it's way cheeper than buying an Atlas and it works great. I also built a flip-down winch mount to accomodate my one-piece fiber CJ7 hood.

I just got to say that I usually like to check out the readers rides before anything else. I would just like to see them on a trail run with a short story. Now that would be Awesome!

Thanks for the great mag(except the near cardboard toyota add every month),and keep up the good work!

On the heels of two world's-first product launches [rock sliders for Land Rover LR3 and Range Rover Sport] we are once again doing our Great Divide II. This trip is the first trip for Land Rover owners [2005 and newer] that is open to the public [normally invitation only]. As well, we are inviting 2 Jeep owners [2005 and newer] to include our brethren which helped create the Land Rover brand so long ago.

Your readers may be interested in the trip, and attending.
