Sorry folks, it seems something went wrong at print. The west coordinate for the GeoStash contest was misprinted in the magazine as north. The right west coordinate is 123° 26.742W.
The printing of the north coordinate is 4x° xx.xxxN is correct. I am not showing the full north coordinate here because some of you may not have found it! If you haven’t already found the coordinates in the magazine good luck and thank you for reading 4Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine.

My Wife and I tore this place apart all afternoon and into the evening. Somebody else must have been there before us or the thing is missing! I wouldn't waste my time or fuel anymore.

As of 5:25 PM PST nobody has reported that they have found the marker yet.
I hid the marker, left a corner of it sticking out, stood over it and recorded the coordinates! It is not out in the open but it is not completely buried.
Keep in mind that as you folks drive in the area to find the marker, someone could be driving out with it.
And please kind to the area, don't tear it apart!!!!
Good Luck.

Kevin, Tore it apart was a figure of speech. We canvased the area for four hours. I have a garmin etrex with WAAS and we were directly over the point. Your hiding spot must be really good. We had a great time looking for it though.

Jason,
I know you were kidding, sorry man. I just wanted to make sure nobody came in with excavation equipment.
All kidding aside the marker is there unless some wild critter hauled it away. I just can't think of anything in those mountains that would have done that.
I am surprised you guys made it out there so quickly, that area is remote, unless you live in or around Roseburg, which by the way is a very nice little town. I really enjoyed spending a week in and around that area.
Have a great evening.

The wife and I spent another 3 hours there today.. I have a Magellan Platinum GPS with WAS... We stood over the Cords. and dug thru everything within a 30 ft. radius.. Its not there.. Even the metal detector would have found it..

Kevin, The story is even better. We are from Clovis Ca. and recieved the magazine on the way out of town to Redding to visit family. We found the coordinates in the Jeep on the way north. I knew the location was close to Redding, however I forgot my GPS at home.
We purchased a unit at Costco in Redding yesterday morning and made the drive. However, the unit did not allow for coordinates to be entered manually. Irregardless we were within 50' of the point.
Unsatisfied after 2 hours of searching we headed to Roseburg to try our luck with another unit. We returned with a Garmin Etrex and searched for another 2 hours. We finally gave up at 10:00 pm as we figured someone else had found the marker.
After sleeping for three hours in a rest area (needless to say sleeping arrangements were not on the list for Jeep engineers when they designed the Wrangler TJ) we arrived home this morning at 6:00 am.
Unlike any adventure we have had in a long time.

I figured it out last wed. But it is to far from Texas to search. I hope you guys hide a marker in the Texas / Lousianna region. I also solved the Moab marker well before it was found but could not find anyone in the area to search for it.

My friend and I went out and found the August geostash late last night. I haven't been able to reach Kevin yet in person but he has been notified. If you have the chance to go check out the area this was located in do. We had a blast. What a great hide. We searched high and low for a couple of hours. Thanks so much for the trip!

Argh! The Jeep was loaded, the dog was about to be walked, ready to head on the 6 hr drive... one last check to make sure it's not found, and voila! Congrats! I guess we're just going to stay in and play World of Warcraft now.
