The Bureau of Land Management is offering a free and voluntary service open to all off-road vehicles to test for noise levels. The point of the program is to allow owners to identify if their vehicle meets California sound regulations before they take it off-road where it could be subject to a hefty fine.
Individual testing takes place by appointment and can even be done on weekends. There is one specific office in Bishop dedicated to the testing but there are others scattered around the state. Best way to get an appointment is to go on the BLM website below or email RichardWilliams@ca.blm.gov.

Some of the local motorcycle races have to do this all ready, prior to the race.
Our local club helps out at a Quick Silver race in Clear Creek.  All the racers have to have their bikes checked prior to entering the race course.

And this is not the only place that does this.  So, standby, as this maybe the next way that the Anti-Access crowd may try to keep us off the trails.

Yep. It's getting pretty ridiculous. As if the BLM isn't bad enough, we've got even more stupid rules & regulations in California! You know you can't even drive a sandrail on the side of the road here anymore? You can only drive an OHV perpendicular to the road to cross over to another trial. Total BS, if you ask me.

too many hand wringing, liberal, limp wristed tree huggers out there. you know the saying, the power to tax is the power to destroy. here's a new one that i seen from an inside source on "that side", we'll just regulate them into submission and make it so difficult and expensive, they won't want to pursue it any more. how's that for hyjinx? don't like someones passion, so we'll badger and hassle you till we get our way. sorry about jumping on my soap box, but this stuff just urks the hell out of me.
