The GeoStash Marker for May 2007 was found by Steven Dutton of Boulder, Colorado. Steve found the marker March 7th in the early AM.
Thank you Steven for reading the magazine and thank you to all the readers participating in the contest.

I love the mag and the contests but I think it's more than a little BS when I get my mag on the 12th and the Geostash was found on the 7th!! How about a little fairness??
AND why wasn't the Map winner from last time shown on the site??

Unfortunately there is no possible way for us to get all the subscribers and readers their magazines at the exact same time. That would be next to impossible, you have to consider postal delivery and delays via 3rd class mail, delivery to newsstands by different companies on different schedules, etc …
Nothing is fixed and nobody is forewarned where the markers are hidden. The contest was created for the readers and subscriber’s enjoyment, period. I am thinking of ways to release the coordinates at different times so more readers have a chance at finding the marker.

There's an easy solution to this. Instead of hiding the actual GPS coordinates of the GEO Stash, the magazine can post similar-looking numbers in the magazine.
Then, on a pre-determined date and time when it is reasonably known that all subscribers and newsstands have copies of the magazine, open an area on this site where users can input these numbers.
If the correct numbers are entered on the interface, the actual GPS coordinates will be given to that particular person.
This way, everyone has to find the hidden numbers in the magazine, and the GPS coordinates are up for grabs at the same time if you have the right numbers.
Thoughts?

I think my mailman reads mine before he delivers it to me. My boss gets his copy at least a week before me and my pages all wet and stuck together!
