I finally see the W cordinate on Page 21 . Were was the XXX degree located that was split from it, on what page is that located???
And this was for the October 2007 publishing correct?? xxx 00.065W (page? & page 21) 41° 40.085N (posted by Kevin 8/17)
I know the plate has already been found, but I'm loosing sleep beacuse I cant find the dang number! This game is going to be the death of me and I don't even have Wi-Fi in my Jeep.
And Google Maps can only get me so close beacuse the map coordinates are showing a diffrent sequence. I found on the site a sentence that says ".... If you have a GPS with WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) it should get you to within 3 to 9 feet of the marker." Does that mean when I get a GPS i need it to display WAAS style coordinates?

Hi Donahoo, There's no such thing as WAAS coordinates. WAAS is something that can give a compatible GPS some additional precision. If you're interested in how it works, read up on "GPS" and "WAAS" in Wikipedia. They also have a good description of how datum works.
Google Earth will display in a few different formats, but if you enter the coordinates shown it will zoom into it just fine since it will accept coordinates in more formats than it will actually display.
If you need a coordinate converter for some reason - you shouldn't - then you can either use your GPS to do the conversion for you in most cases, or try the excellent one at http://boulter.com/gps
There are a lot of good handheld GPS models out there depending on your budget and needs. If you know what you're doing, you can probably find a marker just fine without one even, but it's generally not a easy.

Thanks Dave, I did a nice skim through Wiki and got some good info. Enough that I decided to go purchase a nice little toy to get me started. I got a MAGELLAN eXplorist 200, and I like it for my first GPS device. I think I would like to have a nice dash mount in my '99 WJ somday, but this will be just fine for me for my beginning stages as I'm getting into 4x4'n.
Great web site for gps, nice for me to jump quick and see what state the Geo-Stash is in. If it's in Arizona i'm going after it.
Happy trails, Mark Donahoo

Congratulations on your purchase, Mark. I know several people that use the Magellan eXplorists and like them a lot. If you want to get a little practice at finding things at a given set of coordinates with it, you might try going to geocaching.com and search for some geocaches near where you live or offroad. Getting some practice with navigating via GPS is a good idea before you need to really rely on it.
Have fun! - Dave

Tricky hiding spot, it took me three times through, but it's going to be way to far east for me.

It appears that California is not only in a different time zone, but they must be on another day, too.
