News Flash: dateline 4-15-08
Woo Hoo!
I haven't called the number on the plate yet, but I found the May marker!!! ![]()
Left this morning at 3:00am (central time) and drove the 14 hours (850 miles) to the stash site between Moab and Monticello, UT, and hiked the last .25 mile. I knew it was a long shot, since it had been a month since the final coordinates were posted. My heart sank when I reached the coordinate location, because there were footprints everywhere. I made one circle of the coord location to positively identify where it should be, turned inward, and walked straight to it! It was hidden behind/under a small shrub. There were other persons footprints within 3 feet of the location, but you couldn't see it unless you looked straight down on it. A few degrees to one side or another and you couldn't see it at all.
I still can't believe that it took this long for someone to find this geostash! This area is crawling (pun intended) with 4wheelers every day of the week. Too bad there's not a prize for furthest distance driven to find the geostash!
Well gotta go make a phone call and claim the prize!
My wifey's at a business meeting in the general vicinity of the June Geostash, maybe when they post the correct North coordinates, we can get two Geostashes in a row...lol!
*** it's hard to take a photo of yourself holding the geostash marker when you're by yourself But I managed it....

Wow, congratulations. What size tire are you looking to get?

Has anyone found the Degree portion of the coordinate other than the small numbers on the sign that are actually the last three digits of the phone number?

Still playing telephone tag with Christian Lee over at 4WD&SU, but he's undoubtably out of the office testing the latest and greatest toy for us ![]()
I'm hoping those tires are available in either 305-70Rx16 or 285-75Rx16, since I don't have much lift on my Rubicon (2" suspension, 1" body lift).
By the way, my total round-trip distance, driveway to driveway was 1821 miles! Gas was an average of $3.35 a gallon, with a high of $4.00 on the Indian reservation outside of 4 Corners. Throw in a motel room in Moab, and maybe I should just have bought the tires outright ![]()
Won't be able to score the east coast geostash, my wifes meeting is outside Albany NY, and geostash is a little east of Allentown PA. Oh well. Pretty close, but not close enough I doubt that she could have gotten her rental Hyundai Sonata close to it anyway...LOL!

I can't seem to find the second part of the coordinates for the June issue. I found the ones on pg. 56 but can't find the degree coordinate. I usually find them after one flip through of the magazine but have looked it over like 5 times and still no luck. Anyone?

It is there, same font size as usual, don't let anybody tell you different. It is just more well hidden. Look at all the two page pictures, with a fine tooth comb.

I give up! I've looked over all the two page pics and even had several other people look. Where is it? This would be the one time that I could probably drive to where it is and wouldn't be able to find the coordinates. Any other hints at least?

PV--- Thanks so much for the hint to look very closely at the two page pictures; you saved my sanity. It was on my second try through just the pictures with my magnifying glass . . . that I probably didn't need (but I was getting desperate) and I found it. Do we keep this info between ourselves or is it time to share it with everyone else? Being in Montana the Pennsylvania location of the stash isn't of interest to me; I am unable to get to it. What say you?
