getting a tire that will dominate every other tire in every aspect simply does not exist. but from what i have experinced and have heard this is what i have found out...
BFG A/T's: great in snow and the best your gonna get on ice. great on hardpacked dirt and on rock. but they suck in mud but it helps to run them on low pressure.
Pro Comp Xterrain's: Great in softer dirt and lose rock. not sure about the snow but i would asume they would provide less traction on snow and ice due to the larger tread pattern. i would also assume that mud traction in mud wouldn't be bad.
BFG M/T's: they slide on ice due to the fact that they have large tread with no slits in the knobs like the A/T's do. Great in mud but very loud on the road.
so just like anything else you need to pick you tire for your application.. just ask yourself where yo uare going to be wheel'n.

BFG ko-a/t's in the snow? lol, only with tire chains wrapped around them. (no offense intended, thats my experience with them where I live and play, I have a set of 31x10.5-15 a/t's that have 55,000 miles on them) the km-m/t's are awesome in the snow and ice especially when there sipped, most tire stores like Les Schwab, have the equiptment for sipping.
the best all purpose I've purchased so far is the trXus m/t's, despite the aggressive look, they make very little noise and can be balanced easily. the mud traction is only surpassed by a real swamper, these things adhere to the ice and rock, fling chunks of mud, plow through snow and water like its not there.
I run 34x12.5-16's 10ply, super thick 2 ply sidewalls (indestructable 3ply available in sizes 37" and over. on the trail I run around 10-15psi, 8psi in the sand, 25 on the hwy they have 12,000 miles on them so far, I'm not considered a conservative driver.
the pics are from thanksgiving 07. check out the link, I'm not the only one that loves them.
