Love trail mixes. Hot dogs, too, the spicier the better. Oh, and love fresh fruit and cold water.

The great thing about camping with a jeep or truck is that you can carry things that are heavier than you'd want to hand carry. Such as a dutch oven...or 2, or 3....the camping menu options grow exponentially when you through one of those in. For some great dutch oven recipies just hit up your favorite Boy Scout! Or you can just do it the easy way and get a dutch oven cookbook.

hot dogs are an essential fact of camping, If I feel like stepping it up a notch, on occasion ill bring ribs, beer is a necessity as well almost more than bringing food but you always need a good meal for the morning after

Man, you're gettin' all gourmet on us! Obviously, if you have an RV or camper trailer, that increases your food options, but if you're looking just at stuff you can cook on/around a campfire or just a camp stove, then you're a little more limited. Has anyone tried to cook food on their exhaust manifold or under the hood? :-)

go big or go home right? and I have no rv or trailer, I pack my small car with all the supplies. Im not big on cooking for liek 4 hours and what not , quick food in the desert on the grill is what you need.

Anyone here in the service? You ever take MREs on trail rides or camping trips? If so, which one's your favorite?

Haha.. MRE's.. I don't know how our military men and women do it. I have personaly tryed many many differant types of MRE and have yet to find one that I like.. or remember liking..
If you are talking backpacking trail food, the best ever has to be DenteMore beef stew. Grab a small can and toss it in your pack then heat it up on your small whitegas stove.. yum.. makes me hungry just thinking about it..
But alas, I have moved on to bigger and better things, and now camp out of a trailer so we do everything from hotdogs, to hot dogs wraped in crecent rolls, to steak, carne asada, and for thanksgiving.. Pit Roasted Turkey.. yummy..

I personaly like to make a pot of chili for the first night and just keep adding ingredients for every other night (toss in a 1/2 # hamburger and 1/2 can tomatoe and 1/2 onion ) , and use that to add to whatever main course( bbq chicken or steak or burgers or hotdogs) of course this only works if You have room to haul a stove /grill along. don't forget some fruit or vegetables and You have a good meal under the stars. Eggs and bacon or sausage make a great breakfast.

i was in the army and did the cooking of the mre on the exhaust manifold. my buddy thought i was nuts, till he saw how nice and hot it was (in below freezing temps). i definatly have to go with the ham slice...heat that up, throw it on the big cracker with the cheese spread and you're living large
I work to support my Jeep
