Most Durable Flashlight.

One of the things you never want to leave home without is a flashlight. You never know what can happen while  ur out on the trail or how long you will be there. In a situation where you are wrecked on teh trail.. what flashlight would you like to have at hand?

i am going with the Mag lite. it is real heavy but then again that is also why the cops carry em b/c they double as a weapon  

MagLite hands down.

What other flashlight can you run over with a truck, throw off a cliff, drop out of an airplane, submurge in water, and beat someone with and still have it work EVERY TIME? Thats right, the MagLite

MagLite's are dinosaurs.  While everyone else went to LED MagLight dragged their knuckles until they were forced to go LED.  LED has some huge advantages.  One is battery life.  You can run a LED many times longer then you can a incandescent bulb.  The second, is ruggedness. LED's by their nature are shock-resistant.  No more dropping the light and having the bulb filament break.  There there is size.  Most two battery C123's have as much power as 2-3 D-Cells at a fraction of the size and weight.

So what do I use? Well, I have a couple MagLites but I don't like using them.  When I reach for a flashlight it's always my Surefire G2 LED.  It's more expensive then just about any MagLite but I use it for everything.  I was able to get mine with 10 sets of batteries free which was a big plus.  The C123's are lithium so you can store them for up to 10 years without worrying if they still work.  (You can now by lithium's in more standard sizes as well)  My Surefire was $65 but you can find other brands for much cheaper.  Inova, Pelican, Streamlight, etc...

 

I always take a xeccon L14-L. It can be used as a defensive tool as well as a lighting. Besides, its SOS function will do a great help to me when I am in a emergency situation.
