What are your guys' thoughts about wheeling old rigs? Is it better to build a reproduction with modern, easy-to-find parts, or take an original vintage, build it up, and thrash it? Does it matter? Is it all about just having fun? A cherry old Bronco could be worth something. But is it more fun on the grass of a classic car show, or climbing over boulders in Moab?

I think the simpler the car the better you will be off roading, all that techology crap on new suvs is a bust in the dirt, things get broken and dirt gets inside everything, which is why im not a big fan of newer trucks or suvs off roading, but hey if you have the money more power to you. Simpler non tech vehicles from like 95 back are a lot easier to fix in a hurry and with little to nothing in the middle of the desert.

im gonna have to agree with you about the older vehicles also its true there easier to work on in the usual wheeling conditions when something breaks you can repair it in a half way hurry

So would you say like early-mid '80s trucks? Where the parts are still pretty easy to find, but they're cheap to buy and build, and still pretty straighforward?

id say anything 1995 and back yotas, any 1980's ranger is pretty simple to work on. basically anything that isnt infested with technology and power everything makes things a lot easier to build, repair, and replace without knowing too much and without emptying the bank account.

I strongly argee the older, and simpler the better off you are. also with the older vehicles there is more room under the hood... so you can actually get your hands in there to do what you gotta do. all the new vehicles have: this, that, and the other crammed together filling the entire engine bay. it's a pain.

Okay, I'm going to open up another can of worms: Carburetors or fuel-injection?

FI only because you can't starve your engine of gas on steep climbs and also for fuel efficient.
