It's worthy of being a FJ cruiser, but IMHO it isn't a LANDcruiser by any means. Nice ride, cute as a new pup, great gas mileage, and pretty decent on & off road, but will it have the stamina of the legendary 'cruiser? Time will tell, but I've put many TOUGH miles on my FJ40, FJ55, FJ60, FZJ80.

We thoroughly enjoy our FJ 4x4 Standard Transmission. We live on the beaches of Corpus Christi and constantly take our FJ to the 4x4 trails. The FJ cuts through the sand like nothing, and the sand easily reaches the side bars at times. The trails are everything to loose sand that can reach up to about a foot to a foot and a half, and includes shells and rough terrain at times. We have owned our FJ since 2007 and haven't gotten it stuck yet! We have also driven through water that came up to the wheel wells and still cut through the water like it was nothing. We can't say enough about this rugged vehicle!

Hello Jordan, I enjoyed reading your post, but your last sentence is one I would like to elaborate on and question. You say to keep in mind, "The FJ Toyota will be reliable for many years to follow." AND that was what we were hoping as we are die hard 4x4 off roader's. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy our FJ as we are constantly taking the ride on the trails and beaches of Corpus Christi. The problem is this; We purchased our FJ Silver Cruiser in 2007, and we are noticing a few rust spots showing up on the body of the vehicle. We have also been dealing with bubbling and cracking on the rims of the tires. We were told that this is the start of rust and they rims are beginning to crack which could result in a deadly accident if not replaced. The tires were exchanged for much larger tires, but we kept the rims. When we shared our concern with the Toyota Service Department, they stated the rims were not under warranty; however, they would replace them for our own safety. We are also noticing the rear-view mirror is beginning to turn black around the edges as if moisture has gotten behind the mirror. Is anyone else dealing with these issues, and if so did the Dealership replace any of the parts? We took our FJ in this morning to have some warranty work done since we now have 89,000+ miles on the ride, and they tell us that none of this is covered under warranty. We even purchased the 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and they still told us that the paint and body is only warrantied for 3 years or 80,000 miles. The other thing that we seem to struggle with is the windshield. Because of it's straight up and down feature, this windshield doesn't take rocks well at all, ESPECIALLY on the highway. Our windshield catches every rock and only adds to the cracks and dings.
Overall we absolutely enjoy the FJ Cruiser and only hope that its body will be long lasting. We are getting ready to powder-coat the entire vehicle, but want to make sure our warrantied items are taken care of before we do this.
Please let us know if you have faced any of these problems or others and share with us how the Toyota Service Department handled your situation. Thank you so much!
